The Spectator hosts a public debate examining whether multiculturalism has succeeded as a model for social cohesion in Britain and beyond. As migration pressures rise and nationalist movements gain ground across Europe, this discussion explores how societies can navigate the tensions between cultural diversity and national identity, social security and integration.
The motion "This house believes that multiculturalism has failed" will be debated by four prominent voices: former Home Secretary Suella Braverman and Times columnist Melanie Phillips arguing in favour of the motion, while journalist and author John Kampfner and broadcaster Sarfraz Manzoor defend multiculturalism. Michael Gove will chair the proceedings.
The event takes place at Emmanuel Centre in Westminster. Those wishing to dine at the nearby Old Queen Street Café can book a table at 5.15pm before the debate or at 8.45pm afterwards, entering "SPECTATOR" in the special requests box when booking.
