Paddy Graham, Britain's leading freeskier, explores the creative obsession behind ski filmmaking in this documentary-style premiere. We Can't Not moves beyond pure action footage to examine the people, process and passion that drive outdoor cinema, drawing inspiration from wildlife documentaries and fourth-wall-breaking storytelling.
Narrated by Sean Bean, the film captures two years of production across Alaska's dramatic landscape. Featuring international riders including Paddy Graham, Kye Petersen, Markus Eder, Tom Ritsch and Finn Bilous, it balances breathtaking freeskiing with an intimate, reflective look at the logistics, doubt and teamwork required to create these films. The result is as much a character study of the filmmakers and athletes as it is a showcase of radical skiing.
Screening at BFI Southbank in London.
