Pianist Will Bartlett and saxophonist Tony Kofi join forces as a duo for the first time, despite playing together for 15 years in various ensembles—including an organ quartet and a trio featuring legendary singer Norma Winstone. This special evening showcases their musical chemistry through a swinging, soulful programme featuring classic compositions by Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Abdullah Ibrahim and others.
Will Bartlett is a British pianist educated at Oxford and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, award-winning musician who has worked with Norma Winstone, the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra and many other luminaries. Based in Freiburg, Germany since 2018, he leads the Jazzhouse Youth Orchestra and collaborates with international artists. Tony Kofi, born of Ghanaian parents, is a multi-instrumentalist (alto, baritone, soprano, tenor saxophones and flute) who emerged from the Jazz Warriors in the early 1990s and has performed with US-3, the World Saxophone Quartet, Courtney Pine, Abdullah Ibrahim and many others.
